Flourish Retail is all about helping small and medium businesses understand and use the merchandising that bigger brands have at their fingertips. But lots of small businesses don’t quite know what merchandising is (why would you?) and bigger businesses aren’t always sure of the detail either (though they probably wouldn’t admit it).
If you’re running a business, you're selling something to make money. Whether that something is a product or a service, you need to work out your price. Since setting up my own small business, I’ve seen oh so many products that aren’t priced quite right, and usually they’re priced too low. As well as undervaluing their skill or product (and as a knock-on effect, others in the same industry), it also means that those businesses are missing out on sales and profit.
Love them or hate them, we can learn a lot from supermarkets. Arranged in aisles (or in categories if you shop online), they’re logical and they help you find what you want quickly. In short, they try to make your shop easy. You can think of your products in the same way as supermarkets think about theirs.
Excel… what is it? When you do something well, better than others? Well yes, it could be. In this case, though, we’re talking about the Microsoft software used to create spreadsheets – and the format all our Flourish tools are built in. If you’re not sure how to use Excel, don’t panic. That’s exactly what this free resource is here to help you with.
