#SaveTheStreet

Did you know that when you spend £1 with a local independent retailer, it creates an additional 63p of benefit for your local economy?

That compares to just 40p generated by each £1 you spend with larger national retailers. Proof that shopping local is great for your community!

We’re going to add in another stat now (we do love a stat)… As it stands, 1 in 3 British brands are predicted to disappear this year. That’s pretty devastating.

But there’s hope!

Enter #SaveTheStreet, a campaign founded by Ross Bailey and backed by a range of names from the world of retail, including Mary Portas, Henry Holland and Charlotte Tilbury.

The campaign is urging the government to help the independent retail sector in a way that’s similar to last year's 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme for hospitality. On their website, you can read their open letter to the government, as well as seeing who else is involved.

Follow the #SaveTheStreet campaign on Instagram.

With all this in mind, we've been shouting out some of our favourite independent retailers over on Instagram recently – and now we’d love to hear about yours! Which small retail businesses are you in love with right now? Drop us a message or tag us in on a social media post and we’ll take a look (and no doubt fall down a social media rabbit hole).

How about you? Have you set up a new business in the last year? Or have you changed direction in your existing business to help you ride out the pandemic? We’d love to hear your story, so get in touch!
